What are your favorite style bibles?
Anyone who’s ever been dumped can relate to that desperate “oh my gosh I need to win him back ASAP/five minutes ago!” feeling. Not anyone can relate to feeling so heartbroken she sets her ex-boyfriend’s car on fire—accidentally, of course!—and then follows him around so much he serves up a restraining order. But! Just because you’ve never been that heartbroken doesn’t mean you won’t totally relate to, and be endlessly entertained by, this story of a girl who does just that.

If you’re spending the summer at the beach, it only makes sense to read a book that takes place there, too. This darkly funny novel is about a teenage dude who flees to a sleepy oceanfront town for vacation and falls for a suspicious girl who’s hiding a secret (or ten). Part mystery, part love story, this story is told from the POV of a boy—and written by a young guy—which makes it even cooler.

Remember back in the day when you’d breeze through dozens of Nancy Drew mysteries every summer? This is the grown up version. The protagonist is a super smart, incredibly relatable girl who’s trying to find herself—while also trying to solve a tragic mystery that’s been haunting her hometown. She accomplishes both, to varying degrees, and you just might discover a thing or two about yourself in the process.

In an unexpected turn of events, a down-on-her-luck teen living in a trailer park in Missouri ends up in New York City dating a real-life prince (alas, not Harry, but still!) and posing for the cover of Vogue. There’s a lot of glamour and magic in this story, but the leading lady (and the reader!) learn that smoke and mirrors do not = happiness .
